ChatGPTの会話機能がスマホのアプリだと使えます。この機能を使用して、ミャンマーに関して会話してみました。この会話機能はとてもタイムリーに出てくるのが秀逸なのと、たまに英語だけでなく日本語をまぜてもそれなりに返答してくれるので、まるで言語交換あぷりで外国の人と話しているような感じになるので、とても使えます。
さて、今日、やってみたのが、ミャンマーのお寺に関する会話。
ミャンマーのお寺って、形状に特徴があるわけですが、そのあたりを英語でどのようにいうのかな？というのもあってChatGPTと会話してみたました。以下が会話の実例です。

どうですか。この会話でChatGPTは、今日stunning という言葉を知りましたし、何よりもその反応速度の速さにより、まるで本当に外国人と話している気分になりました。この会話文ではわかりませんが、途中で日本語で「●●という単語わからない」と日本語でいうと日本語で説明してくれます。英語で、「what do you mean by ●●」と聞くと、英語で●●の説明をしてくれます。
外国でコミュニケーションをしていくには、この言い換えの手法というのもとても重要なので、その言い換え力を鍛える意味でもこのChatGPTはとてもいいと感じます。冗談ではなく、英語の先生はある程度勉強した人にとっては不要となってしまうかもしれません。以前、AI相手のアプリに数千円はらって、毎月英語の勉強していましたが、今回のGPTは、そのアプリよりも多種多様な話題に対応していますし、その場で単語の意味を聞けば瞬時にこたえてくれるし、これからの新しい英語の勉強法としてとてもいいアウトプットのための教材といえると思います。
ちなみに、たまに聞き取れない単語もありますが、それを上記のようにスクリプト、つまりスペルを確認することがあとからできます。このことも音と単語のスペルの両方を確認できるという意味でとても素晴らしく役立ちます。
